Designed in Stockholm, ethically sourced & expertly handcrafted in Sri Lanka

All of Asha’s pieces are designed, drawn, and imagined in Vasastan, Stockholm. After ideation, we work directly with gemstone mining and faceting families to source and produce our jewellery. Sri Lanka produces some of the world’s most sought-after sapphires and coloured gemstones.

To support local artisanal mining communities, the Sri Lankan government prohibits the export of rough, uncut gemstones (with the exception of Geuda). This ensures that every valuable stone mined within the country is also faceted and polished locally. By keeping this value-added process within Sri Lanka, the country directly fosters and sustains their ancient, world-renowned craft of artisanal mining faceting, and setting of gemstones.

Meet the Founder

Asha is a Stockholm-based fine jewellery brand founded by Navodinee. The brand pays homage to her memories of growing up surrounded by Sri Lanka’s thriving gem industry at her holiday home in Ratnapura, the ancient city of gems.

"Diamonds didn't excite me in the same way that a beautiful sapphire in the perfect shade of pink did. I couldn't find that in the Swedish market, and I knew there would be others who felt this way too.

After decades of dreaming about creating my own fine jewellery brand showcasing the beautiful coloured gemstones of Sri Lanka, I finally found a reason to do it.

Sri Lankan sapphires are loved across the fine and high jewellery world but seldom is a Sri Lankan the face of that story. Asha is a tribute to my heritage and the incredible treasures of home as well as an opportunity to share this beauty and craftsmanship with my new home in Scandinavia.”

Our approach

  • At Asha, we exclusively use solid precious metals (14k & 18k gold) and natural coloured gemstones. This ensures we maintain an aftermarket value for our products while also supporting sustainable artisanal mining practices and maintaining a connection to a part of earth’s history.

    We specialize in natural Ceylon sapphires which we source directly from mines we have built relationships with. All our feature stones are certified as natural by the Gemological Institute of Colombo.

    Solid 14k & 18k gold is also hypoallergenic, strong enough to set gemstones in, and resistant to daily environmental factors making it perfect for daily use if cared for correctly.

  • The gemstones used for all of our made to order pieces are sourced directly from Sri Lankan mines. The country has a centuries-old heritage of artisanal mining and gemstone faceting.

    The traditional, environmentally friendly and ethical mining methods practiced under the regulatory supervision of the National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA) have set many benchmarks in the international gemstone mining arena.

    Sri Lanka also bans the export of uncut gems ensuring that all stones mined in Sri Lanka are value-added in the country, ensuring that the industry remains a vital source of income for local mining communities.

  • At Asha, we believe in creating bespoke and personalised services for our customers. Each custom piece will begin with a free design consultation and multiple iterations to ensure you end up with the creation of your dreams. We will also bring you along behind the scenes and also involve you in the gem selection process. This experience is truly a unique experience that can be cherished for a lifetime.

    Our custom orders start at 20,000SEK.

  • We offer our custom and engagement customers one free engraving and resizing (if needed) within the first year of purchase.

    Engravings are available for made-to-order pieces at an additional charge of 1500SEK.

    Please note that these complimentary engravings are subject to the individual constraints of your creation, and some technical capabilities.

    Engraved pieces cannot be returned or exchanged and are a final sale.

  • In the event of there being an error in the initial sizing by us, our policy provides resizing free of charge within the first two weeks of purchase.

    Other sizing adjustments will cost 2800SEK.
